"Act well your part; there all the honor lies." ~ Alexander Pope

The International Thespian Society, or ITS, is the Educational Theatre Association’s student honorary organization, recognizing the achievements of high school and middle school theatre students.  Since 1929, EdTA has inducted more than 2 million Thespians into ITS, and there are troupes in more than 4,000 high schools and middle schools.  ITS alumni include Tom Hanks, Val Kilmer, James Marsters, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Stephen Schwartz.  For more information, visit the ITS website.

Eligibility Requirements: Students must obtain a total of 10 Thespian points to become eligible for membership. Points are awarded for performing in shows, working tech, and other various thespian activities.  For more details on how to earn Thespian points at Mount Vernon High School, click the "MVHS Thespian Points" button to the right.

Mount Vernon High School Theatre Arts Department is proud to sponsor ITS Troupe 1779.  We provide a wide variety of theatrical events and activities to our fellow students, and we aim to promote theatre and the arts in the Mount Vernon High School community.
